Creative Breaks is a career development programme that ran between September 2015 and March 2018. It focuses on supporting unemployed and underemployed people in Greater Manchester who want to pursue a career in the arts, culture, digital media and community engagement/development sectors. It is delivered by PANDA in partnership with Union Street Media Arts and it is funded by the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA).
The programme aims to develop skills and qualities appropriate to a career in the arts, like marketing, event promotion, digital media, campaigning and project management. To achieve this it incorporates intensive training, mentoring, coaching, workshops, Arts Award, portfolio development, film-making.
As part of the programme, the participants created the Greater Manchester Alternative Tourist Guide (gmalternativetouristguide.wordpress.com) for tourists that are curious to know more about Greater Manchester’s hidden gems and go off the beaten track and explore beyond the mainstream.
